Econo-Cide is a Health Canada approved disinfectant spray to use against COVID-19. One 4 litre jug of concentrate can refill a 1000 ml spray bottle 250 times. Pumps and spray bottles are available to add to your order as extra items if needed. Econo-Cide has the same fragrance and dye that our Lemon-Guard had.

Food Safe Disinfectant Spray

Econo-Cide is a phosphate free concentrated detergent/ disinfectant spray which provides effective cleaning, deodorizing, disinfection and sanitization of hard surfaces. Our disinfectant spray has been designed specifically for hospitals, nursing homes, schools, food processing plants and other institutions where housekeeping is of prime importance in controlling the hazard of cross contamination. In addition to disinfecting, Econo-Cide deodorizes those areas which generally are hard to keep fresh smelling, such as garbage storage area, empty garbage bins and cans, toilet bowls and any other area which are prone to odours caused by micro-organisms.

How to Disinfect

To disinfect pre-cleaned hard inanimate surfaces such as walls, floors, tabletops, add 80 mL Econo-Cide per 5 L of water (1 – 62.5 dilution ratio). Apply solution with mop, cloth, or sponge so as to wet thoroughly. Allow to remain wet for 10 minutes and then let air dry.

To disinfect toilet bowls, flush toilet, add 80 mL Econo-Cide directly to the bowl water. Swab the bowl completely using scrub brush or toilet mop, making sure to get under the rim. Let stand for 10 minutes and flush.

For heavily soiled areas, a pre‑cleaning step is required and recommended. Prepare a fresh solution for each use. When disinfecting food contact surfaces, rinse thoroughly with potable water.

This product is not to be used as a sterilant/high-level disinfectant on any surface or instrument that: (1) is introduced directly into the human body, either into or in contact with the bloodstream or normally sterile areas of the body, or (2) contacts intact mucous membranes but which does not ordinarily penetrate the blood barrier or otherwise enter normally sterile areas of the body. This product may be used to pre-clean or decontaminate critical or semi-critical medical devices prior to sterilization or high-level disinfection.

For surfaces and/or objects that may come into direct contact with children at the mouthing stage of development, a rinse with potable water is recommended.

SANITIZATION:

To sanitize previously cleaned and rinsed non‑porous food contact surfaces, prepare 200 ppm active quaternary Econo-Cide solution by adding 44.44 mL Econo-Cide per 10 L of water.

To sanitize immobile items such as tanks, chopping blocks, counter tops, flood the area with 200 ppm Econo-Cide solution or apply with a cloth or sponge making sure to wet all surfaces completely for at least 60 seconds. Let air dry. Prepare a fresh solution for each use.

To sanitize mobile items such as drinking glasses, eating utensils, immerse in 200 ppm Econo-Cide solution for at least 60 seconds making sure to immerse completely. Remove and let air dry. Prepare a fresh solution daily or more frequently as soil is apparent.

Econo-Cide is an effective sanitizer when diluted in water up to 250 ppm hardness (CaCO3).

MILDEWSTAT:

To control mold and mildew on pre‑cleaned, hard non‑porous surfaces such as floors, walls, table tops, add 80 mL Econo-Cide per 5 L of water. Apply solution with a cloth, mop, or sponge making sure to wet all surfaces completely. Let air dry. Prepare a fresh solution for each use. Repeat application at weekly intervals or when mildew growth reappears.

EFFICACY TESTS HAVE DEMONSTRATED THAT Econo-Cide IS AN EFFECTIVE BACTERICIDE AND FUNGICIDE IN THE PRESENCE OF ORGANIC SOIL (5% BLOOD SERUM).

DISINFECTION:

At 80 mL per 5 L dilution, Econo-Cide exhibits effective disinfectant activity against the following:

  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa PRD‑10 -Streptococcus pyogenes
  • Escherichia coli -Brevibacterium ammoniagenes
  • Klebsiella pneumoniae -Streptococcus faecalis
  • Salmonella shotmulleri -Shigella dysentariae
  • Salmonella enterica -Enterobacter aerogenes
  • Streptococcus salivarius -Staphylococcus aureus
  • Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)
  • Vancomycin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA)
  • Klebsiela pneumonia New Delhi Metallo-Beta Lactamase (NDM-1) Carbapenem Resistant

FUNGICIDAL ACTIVITY:

At this level the product is also fungicidal against Pathogenic fungi, Trichophyton Interdigitale (Athletes Foot Fungus).

VIRUS ACTIVITY:

The product when used on environmental inanimate surface at 80 mL per 5L of water exhibits effective virucidal activity against Influenza A2/Japan (representative of the common flu virus). Herpes simplex Type 1 (causative agent of fever blisters and mononucleosis), Adenovirus Type 2 (causative agent of upper respiratory infections), Vaccinia virus (representative of the pox virus group), Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1), Feline calicivirus, Norovirus (including Norwalk Virus) and Avian Influenza virus, Type A (Turkey/Wis/66), H9N2, Hepatitis C Virus (HCV), Porcine Respiratory & Reproductive Syndrome Virus (PRRSV). This product has demonstrated effectiveness against Vaccinia and Influenza A virus and is expected to inactivate all Influenza A viruses including 2009 (H1N1) pandemic Influenza A virus.

KILLS HIV AND HCV ON PRE-CLEANED ENVIRONMENTAL SURFACES/OBJECTS PREVIOUSLY SOILED WITH BLOOD/BODY FLUIDS in health care settings (Hospitals, Nursing Homes) or other settings which there is an expected likelihood of soiling in inanimate surfaces/objects with blood or body fluids, and in which the surfaces/objects likely to be soiled with blood or body fluids can be associated with the potential for transmission of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV) and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV)

Special instructions for cleaning and decontamination against HIV-1 and HCV on surfaces soiled with blood/body fluids.

Personal Protection: When handling items soiled with blood or body fluids use disposable latex gloves, gowns, masks, or eye coverings.

Cleaning Procedures: Target surfaces must be cleaned prior to disinfection, as the presence of heavy soil on a surface may reduce the intended disinfectant efficacy of the product.

Contact Time/Concentration: At a use dilution of 80 mL per 5 L Econo-Cide is effective against HIV-1 and HCV in the presence of 5% blood serum with a 10 minute contact time.

Infectious Materials Disposal: Any materials used in the cleaning process that may contain blood or body fluids are to be disposed of immediately in accordance with local regulations for infectious materials disposal.

PRECAUTIONS: Keep Out of Reach of Children.

DANGER: CORROSIVE. Causes severe skin burns and eye damage. Do not get in eyes, on skin or clothing. Harmful if swallowed. Wear eye protection and rubber gloves when handling. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Avoid contamination of food.

FIRST AID:

IF IN EYES: Hold eye open and rinse slowly and gently with water for 15 – 20 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue rinsing eye. Call a poison control center or doctor for treatment advice.

IF ON SKIN OR CLOTHING: Take off contaminated clothing. Rinse skin immediately with plenty of water for 15 – 20 minutes. Call a poison control center or doctor for treatment advice.

IF INHALED: Move person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing. Call a poison control center or doctor for treatment advice.

IF SWALLOWED: Call a poison control center or doctor immediately for treatment advice. Have person sip a glass of water if able to swallow. Do not induce vomiting unless told to do so by a poison control center or doctor. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

NOTE TO PHYSICIAN: Probable mucosal damage may contraindicate the use of gastric lavage.

How to Store Disinfectant

Do not contaminate water, food, or feed by storage and disposal. Store in a dry place at room temperature.

How to Dispose Disinfectants

Rinse the emptied container thoroughly. Make the empty container unsuitable for further use. Dispose of the container in accordance with provincial requirements.
